Inyathelo 2016 Year End Letter

This has been a turbulent year for our country, with Inyathelo operating at the coalface of a society in transition, facing challenges to its most august institutions. However, despite external and internal obstacles, Inyathelo has - with hugely committed partners, and following the approach and practice of Advancement - supported numerous organisations in their journey towards optimal functionality and sustainability.

Inyathelo 2016 Year End Letter

A full calendar has been filled with diverse workshops, events, programmes, training and technical support. We have hosted a robust round of activities at our sustainability centre, which is now entrenched as a convergence point for civil society and philanthropists. Speakers at our breakfast meetings have shared their insights and experiences, challenging and inspiring us. We have collaborated across a range of sectors, working with representatives from tertiary education institutions to fledgling start-ups.

A busy year was crowned with our tenth annual Philanthropy Awards, in which we honoured five extraordinary individuals and families who have committed themselves and their resources to the betterment of society. Their stories told of the strength and tenacity of the human spirit.

Many not-for-profit organisations have found their services more in demand than ever this year, yet have received fewer funds to meet deliverables. Inyathelo itself has faced a critical time of transition, grappling with issues of leadership, governance and change management. With our boat safely back in calm waters, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who provided unwavering commitment and wise counsel. From management and staff who simply got on with delivering on work commitments, to external clients and donors, and members of our board, we are deeply appreciative of your steadfast support for Inyathelo, and the principles it represents.

We look forward to continuing to partner with you, sharing our resources and expertise in 2017, underpinned by collaboration and best Advancement practice.
May your festive season and the New Year be filled with much happiness, health and peace.

Wishing you safe and happy holidays.
